Meet our Pilates Instructor Debbie

Debbie started practicing Pilates 13 years ago. It was love at first session, however, it came to an abrupt halt when the Pilates instructor quit, and the gym never found a replacement.

Over the years Debbie tried many other ways to workout and manage stress, but kept on getting injured. Health issues let to multiple surgeries and tons of PT that didn’t really work.

Desperate because she was facing yet another surgery, Debbie came to The R3finery.  Sara and Alix worked miracles, and helped avoid going under the knife yet again. Additionally, they reintroduced Debbie to Pilates and it was love all over again.

When Sara mentioned teacher training, she jumped at the opportunity.

Debbie also elected to sit for the National Pilates Board exam because her husband will be retiring in a couple of years. They don’t know where they will end up but Debbie wants to be able to teach wherever they land.

Some background on Debbie.

She has degrees from both The Fashion Institute of Technology (Fashion Buying and  Merchandising) and Boston University (Communications and Public Relations).

Her first career was in Advertising in Media. She worked in New York, Chicago and Boston and telecommuted 20 years before Covid made it popular. Debbie’s second was as a stay at home mom to three children, a son and two daughters. Now that the kids are older and independent,  Debbie has embarked on a new path as a Pilates Instructor.

She lives in Summit with her husband and youngest daughter, two dogs and koi fish.

Her goal for each class is for clients to feel challenged, using contemporary Pilates movements during the and amazing, flexible and confident after.

Debbie feels so fortunate to have found The R3finery - not only as a client but now as a teacher as well.
